Made for Wales GCSEs and related qualifications consultations now open
As part of our journey to co-construct a new suite of GCSEs and related qualifications for learners across Wales, we are pleased to announce that consultation on our high-level proposals for the structure and focus of assessment for the subjects outlined below is now live.
Commenting on this exciting development, Delyth Jones, Assistant Director, Qualification Development. “We have hit a key milestone in the creation of our new inclusive, engaging and bilingual qualifications. We have engaged with a broad cross section of stakeholders through our Development Advisory Groups, but these consultations offer an important opportunity for a greater number across the education community to comment on our preliminary subject outlines.
The qualification outlines are extremely important, as these will guide our future development work for these qualifications. I strongly encourage everyone to feedback on our proposals, to ensure we capture a broad range of opinions, that will allow us to create qualifications which are fit for learners across Wales.”
The consultation applies to subjects within the first phase of our development which will be available for teaching from September 2025.
For each subject, we have developed a qualification outline which builds upon the Approval Criteria devised by 91ε Wales. Based on the feedback collected, our Qualification Development Team will work with our Subject Officers to revise and publish the final outlines in January 2024.
We are looking for feedback from across the education community, including teaching colleagues, heads of centres, parents/guardians and learners. The consultations consists of two phases, which are outlined below:
